Josh Elliott
Certified Run Coach & Run Gait Analyst
I love all things endurance sports and outdoor ultra-adventures. Throughout the last 15+ years I have completed a multitude of long-course & ultra-distance triathlons, cycling events, and running races. In 2015 I earned my coaching certification and founded Compass Endurance Coaching LLC. Coaching was my way of sharing my passion and experience in endurance sports to help others achieve their goals.
Since launching in 2015, I am proud of how Compass has evolved. In 2017 Rachel came on board as a run coach, brining years of fitness & wellness experience with her. In 2020 Rachel earned her certification as a Licensed Massage Therapist and we rebranded to Compass Massage & Endurance. In late-2022 we expanded from our home-office to our current office off Hurstbourne Road. And in 2023 was both earned our certifications in run-gait-analysis and have begun incorporating those critical skills into our client’s programs.
Throughout the years I have had the honor of coaching some amazing athletes through some amazing events & races. From Ironman’s, Ultraman’s, Ultramarathons, Boston Qualifiers, SwimRun’s, the list goes on and on. Just ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary feats through periods of structured, consistent, work and dedication.
Personally, over the past decade I have transitioned from a multi-sport athlete to primarily a trail & ultra-runner. Thus, I have turned my primary coaching focus to ultra-endurance runners. I feel it is critical that great coaches actually participate and are tightly plugged into the latest science, trends, & technology in the disciplines they are coaching. Trail & Ultra-running is my passion and I love sharing it with athletes I coach.

I’ve been a run coach for several years now and I am amazed at what the human spirit is capable of. I’ve coached athletes through events that they never thought possible. That’s the great thing about hiring a coach; you take those internal desires, and you project them outward onto someone who understands what you need to do to accomplish said goal. You also take the fear, doubt, and negativity out of your head and give it a voice. Once it has a voice, you learn how to control it. Once you learn control, you can master any task that is in front of you.
I also know that training is rough on the body. I know that athletes are incredibly stubborn. I know that we are guilty of focusing on the plan, letting other types of beneficial cross training fall to the side. I know that this can lead to injury- either nagging or season ending. My answer has never been to stop. Over the years, I’ve utilized massage, not only to heal injury, but to figure out why it occurs in the first place. My faith in this avenue led me to pursue my LMT certification. I offer my massage services to anyone who wants to be a healthier version of themselves. Our bodies were made to move and my goal is to make movement more accessible to anyone, not just athletes. Contact me today to schedule a massage customized to meet your specific needs.
